Hanover Township is one of 29 municipalities in Cook County, Illinois, USA and is located at the end of the county canal. In the 2010 census, the population was 99,538. Hanover Township was founded on April 2, 1850. The first reported township population was 672. The city derives its name from "Hanover Kingdom in West Germany," which is where the first majority of the city's population originated.
The main problem of the government is collecting taxes, controlling and collecting stray animals and road maintenance. The "poor aid" was minimal in the early days of the Township and the Clerks were in control to organize electoral machines, much like the work they do today.
Today, Hanover Township has a population of over 100,000 inhabitants. Most of Streamwood is located within the boundaries of Township, along with parts of Bartlett, Elgin, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and Cook County are unrelated. Township Town Hall is set up across Township Township Town Hall at 250 S. IL Route 59 at Bartlett, Senior Center at 240 S. IL Route 59 at Bartlett, Astor Avenue Community Center at 7431 Astor Avenue in Hanover Park, Community Resource Center in 1535 Burgundy Place at Streamwood and Izaak Walton Center at 899 Jay Street in Elgin.
