Claris Home Page was one of the earliest early WYSIWYG HTML editors, developed from 1994 on. The project was codenamed Loma Prieta. Claris bought it from San Andreas Systems, fixed it to use a common user interface for all of their products, and released it in 1996.

The Home page supports all common features in HTML at the time. However, the program does not include any template systems, nor does it have the system to create DHTML menus or roll-over effects, which at the time was an experimental feature available only in the latest versions of browsers. It also has a number of bugs and displays of interruptions, which Claris did not fix until the end of 1997. It enhanced the table editor and included a clip art library of several thousand images in GIF format. In January 1998, the third and final versions of the Home Page were released. This version contains templates and tools for building database-based websites using FileMaker Pro 4.1 and Claris Dynamic Markup Language (CDML).
Within weeks of the end of the Home Page release, Apple Computer's parent company reorganized Claris into FileMaker Inc., with the Home Page and FileMaker database as the only remaining product. The Home page was discontinued in 2001, though it continues to run in the Mac OS X Classical Environment through version 10.4. The Home page is designed for HTML 3.2, and as a result does not support HTML 4.0. Home Pages can not display Portable Network Graphics (PNG) images, and if used to upload them, PNG files will be corrupted and can not be viewed.
Programmer Sam Schillace, who has developed Claris Home Page with his colleague Steve Newman from 1994, will then lead the development of Google Docs.
