Insurance is covered by IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company and Ameriprise Insurance Company, each wholly-owned subsidiary of Ameriprise Financial, Inc. They also partner with various special insurance providers to offer protection for items such as boats, ATVs, recreational vehicles and motorcycles. Ameriprise Auto & amp; Home Insurance is an affinity marketer, relying almost entirely on strategic partnerships to reach customers. Partners include Costco Wholesale, and Ameriprise Financial. In December 2012, Ameriprise Auto & amp; Home Insurance has over 700,000 prevailing policies and generates over $ 800 million in net premiums.

History
In 1894 John Tappan founded Investors Syndicate in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his name was changed in 1949 as Investors Diversified Services, Inc. (IDS). American Express Company acquired IDS in 1984 and renamed it American Express Financial Corporation. They acquired the Wisconsin Entrepreneur Entrepreneurship Company in Green Bay in 1986, changed its name to IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company, and relaunched it the following year with 25 employees.

1986 - American Express Financial Corporation acquired Wisconsin Victims of Green Bay Victims Company and renamed IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company.
1987 - IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company starts selling auto insurance, home and personal insurance in Wisconsin.
1988 - Company expands its territory coverage including Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa and Ohio.
1999 - The Company actively sells insurance products in 35 states.
2000 - Company moved to new headquarters in De Pere, Wisconsin.
2005 - Ameriprise Financial, Inc., becomes an independent, publicly owned company. IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company started doing business as Ameriprise Auto & amp; Home insurance. IDS Property Casualty Insurance Company remains an underwriter, paired with a newly developed insurance company, Ameriprise Insurance Company. In the same year, the company also opened its second office in Phoenix, Arizona. 2012 - Ameriprise Auto & amp; Home Insurance opened a third location in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Today - Ameriprise Auto & amp; Home Insurance has more than 1,200 employees and offers insurance products in 43 states.
