Brochures are informative paper documents (often used for advertising) that can be folded into templates, pamphlets or leaflets. The brochure can also be a set of unfolded paper that is inserted into the pocket or package folder. A brochure is a promotional document, primarily used to introduce a company, organization, product or service and inform potential customers or members of the community about its benefits.

Brochures are distributed in various ways: as newspaper inserts, shared privately, by mail or placed on a brochure rack in high traffic locations especially in tourist areas. They may be considered as gray literature.

The brochure is now available in electronic format and is called e-brochure . They have the added benefit of unlimited distribution and cost savings when compared to traditional paper brochures.

The most common type of single sheet brochure is bi-fold (one sheet is printed on both sides and folded into two parts) and tri-fold (same, but folded into three). The bi-fold brochure produces four panels (two panels on each side), while the tri-fold results in six panels (three panels on each side).

Other brochure fold settings may be: accordion or "z-fold" method, "c-fold" method, etc. Larger bed sheets, such as those that have detailed maps or wide photo spread, are folded into four, five, or six panes. When two fascia cards are affixed to the outer panel of the z-folded brochure.

The booklet brochure is made of some of the most severely stitched sheets, bounded on a wrinkled edge, or perfectly bonded like a thin cover book, and produces eight or more panels.

Edit and design

Flyer brochures are carefully edited to promote the organization or business, to sell services or products, raise awareness or to fight for a reason. The editor will be clear who they are trying to reach and set their target audience. They will also be aware of the skillful layouts and designs that aim to attract the attention of their readers.

Print

Brochures are often printed using a four-color process on thick and shiny paper to give the impression of quality. Businesses can print a small number of brochures on a computer printer or on a digital printer, but offset printing produces a higher amount at a lower cost per unit.
