AT & amp; T created att.net as a web portal in 1995 to support AT & amp; T Worldnet , a dial-up Internet access service. After the merger of AT & T and SBC, and the acquisition of BellSouth, the goal of the widespread att.net portal: is made to serve as a portal not only for Worldnet customers, but also for BellSouth Dial and BellSouth DSL customers, as well as for all AT & T ISPs in SBC territories not selected to use SBC Yahoo! gate.
